NAFDAC's Reviewed Regulations: All You Need to Know

Dear reader ,

Happy New Month! The start of a new month is usually the best time to set goals for the month and brush up on things that did not work in the previous month to get better results.

As a business owner, adhering to regulatory standards and procedures is not a choice; it’s imperative. It is essential for producing products that are safe for your customers— products they’ll love and enjoy. So if you haven’t prioritized complying with these standards, this month is the perfect time to start.

To enhance the quality of life of Nigerians and fit the World Health Organization’s (WHO) standards of finding alternative sources to existing partially hydrogenated oils that are the source of industrially produced Trans-fats, the National Agency for Food & Drug Administration & Control (NAFDAC) reviewed its regulations on Fats, Oil and Food containing Fats and Oil Regulation 2022 and Pre-Packaged Food Labelling Regulation 2022 recently. These regulations have undergone some changes different from the 2005 versions.

If you are involved in manufacturing, packaging, importing, exporting, advertising, distributing, displaying for sale, offering for sale, selling, or using products containing fats and oils and/or using pre-packaged food labelling, it's crucial to understand the full scope of these regulations thoroughly.
