Matthew is the Director of Research & Impact at the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) which is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging market and provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. ANDE recently conducted ecosystem snapshots to provide data about financial and non-financial support available for small and growing businesses in specific cities and countries including a few in Nigeria.

Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) (Panelist)Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo is the Honorable Minister for the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and he has extensive experience in Project Finance, Oil and Gas, Commercial Law and Business Facilitation. He leads the work of the Ministry to formulate policies that will create wealth and employment, reduce poverty and stimulate the growth of the domestic economy through industrialization, trade and investment. This includes stimulating growth of domestic MSMEs and a renewed roadmap to increase Nigeria’s Foreign Direct Investment.

Dr. Yemi Kale, Statistician-General/CEO, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) (Panelist)Dr. Kale leads the coordination of statistical operations of the National Statistical System to produce official statistics cross Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), State Statistical Agencies (SSAs) and Local Government Councils (LGCs) in Nigeria. Prior to this current role, he was also a special adviser to the Minister of Finance and Minister of National Planning as well as group head of research and strategy one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions.

Prof. Olayinka David-West, Lagos Business School (LBS) (Panelist)Professor Olayinka David-West is an Information Systems professional with almost three decades’ experience in the IT and financial services industry. She is a passionate advocate for digital transformation and inclusive finance and has worked on research and practice engagements involving policy and strategic management interventions towards digitally transformed businesses and society. She is also academic director at Lagos Business School​ and Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan-Atlantic University.

Prof. Erik Stam, Professor of Strategy, Organization & Entrepreneurship & Dean of the Utrecht University School of Economics (Panelist)Professor Erik Stam is a leading scholar on entrepreneurial ecosystems who is fascinated by entrepreneurship and its context. His areas of expertise include business history, business development innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development. He often engages with governments, start-ups and corporates on innovation and entrepreneurship. He has served many Ministries in the Netherlands and is on the advisory board of several public and private sector entrepreneurship organizations.

Umma Aboki, Executive Secretary, the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) (Panelist)Umma Aboki heads the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA). She has over 20 years banking experience spanning various sectors in the Nigerian Banking Industry and was previously Special Adviser, Economic and Investment Matters to the Governor of Kaduna state before her appointment to KADIPA. KADIPA is a One-Stop Investment Centre for business and investments in Kaduna state to facilitate Investment in the State.
